Herman Eugene Kirkham, 79, died Saturday night at Indian Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Corydon. He was a retired maintenance employee at Hobarts in Louisville and was the Harrison Township assessor for 16 years. He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of VFW #2950 in Corydon and was a member of the Pisgah Masonic Lodge in Corydon. He is survived by his wife, the former Carmen Libka of Corydon; two sons, Lloyd Kirkham of Corydon and Ronald Kirkham of Carmi, IL; one daughter, Kathy Pierce of Elizabethtown, KY; one brother, Paul Kirkham of Sarasota, FL; one sister, Mildred Crosier of Scottsdale, AZ; and five grandchildren. Mr. Kirkham was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Ray Kirkham, and his grandson, Brent Richardson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Tuesday and there will be military rites at the gravesite.
