Melba Kirby Blocker, 88, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Clifton. Services have been set for 2 p.m. sunday, Jan. 21, at the Spring Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery. Visitaiton will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lawson Funeral Home.
Melba was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the late Thad and Wilma Kirby. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the Texas Wesleyan University and taught school at Glenview Elementary in the Birdville ISD for 25 years. On April 14, 1937, she married Fayte E. Blocker, in Ft. Worth. She was a resident and had ranched in Bosque County since 1948.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fayte Blocker on Aug. 17, 1989; and brothers, Jack and Harold Kirby.
Survivors include daughters, Rachel Blocker, of Meridian and Trisha Hix and husband, Ken, of Burleson; son, Tim Blocker and wife, B.J., of Red Stone, Colo.; and grandsons: Cody Wilks, of Dallas, Casey Wilks, of Meridian, Boone Blocker, of Austin, and Zachary Blocker, of Red Stone, Colo.; other relatives and many friends.
