Melba Kirby Blocker, 88, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Clifton. Services have been set for 2 p.m. sunday, Jan. 21, at the Spring Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery. Visitaiton will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lawson Funeral Home.
Melba was born Jan. 16, 1919, to the late Thad and Wilma Kirby in Bowling Green, Ky. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the Texas Weselyan University and taught school at Glenview Elementary in the Birdville ISD for 25 years. On April 14, 1937, she married Fayte E. Blocker, in Ft. Worth. She was a resident and had ranched in Bosque County since 1948.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fayte Blocker on Aug. 17, 1989; brothers, Jack and Harold Kirby; and her parents, Thad and Wilma Kirby.
Survivors include daughters, Rachel Blocker, of Meridian and Trisha Hix and husband, Ken, of Burleson; son, Tim Blocker and wife, B.J., of Red Stone, Colo.; and grandsons, Cody Wilks, of Dallas, Casey Wilks, of Meridian, Boone Blocker, of Austin, and Zachary Blocker, of Red Stone, Colo.
