Bettie Lucille Clemans, 85, one of the first employees of Central Arizona College, died on Sept. 27, 2012, at Family Tree assisted living.
Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30.
Ms. Clemans was born on Sept. 10, 1927 in Gibbon, Neb., and was a daughter of Louie C. King and Opal A. Houtz. She grew up in Nebraska and moved to Arizona in 1957.
She was proud to be the third employee hired at CAC. While working there she raised five children and attended Arizona State University, where she received a bachelor's degree in business. She later received master's and doctoral degrees and taught business courses at CAC until retiring in 1991.
She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel, was an avid collector of antiques and books, loved playing bridge and always had a book in her hand.
Survivors include five sons and daughters, Richard A. Clemans of Catalina, Dana Wheeler of Casa Grande, Michael J. Clemans of Scottsdale, Robin A. Fick of Casa Grande and James R. Clemans of Tucson; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
