Anderson – King Wedding
Alfred O. Anderson of Aldrich, Minn., and Miss Hazel King of Terril, were united in marriage Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Union Baptist parsonage. Mr. Anderson is an enterprising young farmer from Minnesota who wanted one of Iowa's choice young ladies for his helpmeet. Miss Hazel King is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. King formerly of Estherville but of late living on R. J. Ridley's farm near Terril. Miss Hazel has lived in or near Estherville most of her life and has a host of friends who extend their congratulations. For the past few years she has been attending the Estherville High School.

The bridal pair were accompanied by Mrs. R. W. King, the mother of the bride. They expect to drive to their new home in Aldrich, Minn., in their car. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, April 10, 1918)


Mrs. Alfred Anderson Dies at 63
Mrs. Alfred (Hazle) Anderson, 63, resident of the Estherville area since childhood, died today at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital as result of a stroke suffered yesterday morning at her home in Huntington. Mrs. Anderson was taken by ambulance to the hospital yesterday forenoon.

She was born Feb. 9, 1900, at Garner, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert King. When a child she moved with her parents to Estherville and received her education in the local schools.

The former Hazle King and Alfred Anderson were married April 6, 1918 in Estherville and after their marriage had lived on the same farm northeast of town until their retirement in 1955 when they moved to Huntington. Mr. Anderson died in 1959.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Huntington Methodist Church and the Brown Creek Country Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roy B. (Eileen) Martin Jr. of Clear Lake, Mrs. Paul N. (Marilyn) Conrad of Falls Church, Va.; one son, Bruce, rural Estherville, and 10 grandchildren.

Also surviving her death are five sisters, Mrs. Roy Long, Middletown, Mont.; Mrs. Alice Barber, Storm Lake; Mrs. Francis Putman, Marathon; Mrs. Elwin Lohse, Fairfax, Va.; and two brothers, Donald King of San Diego, Calif., and John King, Dunnell, Minn.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Funeral services are to be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Huntington, the Rev. Fred W. Ortmeyer officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. Friday when the body will be taken to the church. The casket will not be opened after the services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 21, 1963)
