Elizabeth (Bessie) Cleapor King Ayotte of Roswell, GA, formerly of Wilmington, died Wednesday, September 25, 2002. She was born April 20, 1914 in Wilmington, NC, daughter of the late Frank Rhodes King, Sr., and Pauline Cleapor King, and was preceded in death by her husband, Alcide (Sid) Joseph Ayotte and by her elder siblings, Frank Rhodes King, Jr., and Margaret Virginia King. Mrs. Ayotte graduated from New Hanover High School and attended Women's College in Greensboro, NC. During WWII, she was a member of the office staff at Camp Davis, NC, and later was employed by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. Mrs. Ayotte was a member of St. John Episcopal Church in Wilmington, NC, and a member of St. Elizabeth's Chapter and Episcopal Church Women. Surviving are her daughters, Alicia Jo Ayotte of Roswell, GA, formerly of Wilmington, NC and Paula Ayotte Corwin and husband, H. Hobart Corwin of Marietta, GA; her granddaughters, Leslie Cleapor Corwin of Atlanta, GA and Stephanie Clark Corwin of Marietta, GA; twin brothers, John W. King and wife Mary of Wilmington, NC and William G. King of Gulf Breeze, FL; four nephews and their spouses; two great-nephews; and two great-nieces. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 30, 2002 in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilmington, NC. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 PM, Sunday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3131 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC, 28403, or the Mutiple Sclerosis Society, 9844-C Southern Pines Blvd., Charlotte, NC, 28273.
