SPRINGDALE -- Verlin Eugene "Kingfish" King, 79, of Springdale died Aug. 10, 2008, at his home. He was born April 4, 1929, in Kingston to Ewin and Ova Bradshaw King.

He was a farmer, logger, road grader man and saw-miller. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War with the 40th Infantry Division. He was a Christian. He enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wynona Marie Whiteley King, on Nov. 12, 1997.

Survivors include six sons, Randall "Randy" and Jan King of Pea Ridge, Charles "Chuck" and Kathy King, Larry and Sue King and Roger King, all of Marble, Adrian King of Berryville and Benjamin "Ben" King of Wharton Creek; two daughters, Glora and J.C. Jones of Witter and Joyce and Jimmy Hudspeth of Marble; one brother, Boyd King of Sand Springs, Okla.; two sisters, Alice Sims and Dorothie Hudspeth, both of Marble; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville with the Rev. Dearl Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Upper Campground Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy King, Larry King, Roger King, Rick Hudspeth, Derek Hudspeth and Hubert Burris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck King, Adrian King, Ben King, Charlie Phillips, Fred Bradshaw, Joe Carter, Lanny McConnell, Kenneth Wright, Jim Autry, Chad Hudspeth and Jim Hudspeth.
