Betty Jo Garner King, of Reid Circle, Bremen, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2003. She was born August 29, 1934, in Haralson County, daughter of the late Hobson John Garner and Emma Kate Cosby Garner. She was a member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, a homemaker and caregiver, and had been employed by Southern Bell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mattie Lou Garner Zabel; three brothers, Clayte Commodore Garner, J.E. Garner, and Blanch Edward Garner. Survivors include husband, Robert Huland King; daughters, Emmadene Williams, Medora Kittredge, and Valerie McLain; son, Keith King; sisters, Aleita Brown, Mary Branch, Carol Stager, Lenna Powell Davidson, Irma Love, and Imo Stephens; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 10, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home of Bremen with Rev. Clifton Brown, Elder Neal Prichard and Elder Homer Benefield officiating. Music was furnished by the McBrayer family and Hugh McGraw and singers. Pallbearers were Boyce King, Martin King, Ardell Davidson, Jerold Stephens, Bill Stager, and Dave Stager. Interment followed in Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. Hightower Funeral Home of Bremen was in charge of the arrangements. (The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, July 15, 2003)
