Bessie Arnell (Merriman) King, age 88, of Lakeway, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Creekside Health and Rehabilitation in Yellville, Arkansas.
She was born November 7, 1925 in Peel, Arkansas to the late Bill and Ollie (Friend) Merriman. She worked as a shipping clerk for Capitol Mercury Shirt Factory in Yellville. A lifetime resident of the area, Bessie was a member of Lakeway Fellowship Church, and enjoyed gardening.
Bessie is survived by two sons: Raymond King and his wife, Betty, of Yellville, Arkansas; and Bob King and his wife (Karen) of Lead Hill, Arkansas;
two daughters: Carolyn "Susie" Wood and her husband, Merl of Yellville, and Tammy Smith of Lead Hill, Arkansas;
seven grandchildren: Mike King, Mandy King, David King, B.J King, Shannon Dees, Tyler Smith and Neil Wood;
and seven great-grandchildren: Elaine and Natalie Dees; Clayton and Levi King; and Audrey, Cam, and Emmi King.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert in 2012;
four sisters: Essie, Amy, Elsie, and Dorothy;
five brothers: Odis, Joe, Cratis, Guy, and Obert;
and a granddaughter, Tracy Wood.
Visitation for Bessie King will be Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville.
Funeral service will be Friday, January 31, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Burns Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Peel Cemetery in Peel, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sue Bell, and Oletha King.
Memorials may be made to Peel Cemetery or to Legacy Hospice
