OLDEST DAVIS PIONEER DIES

Funeral Set Wednesday For Alonzo Marvin King In Kaysville

KAYSVILLE, May 16—Alonzo Marvin King, 91, oldest male resident of Davis County, died at his home here Sunday night after a long illness.

He was born in Hancock County, Illinois, Feb. 3, 1847, to Enoch and Mary Ware King. The family crossed the plains and settled in Salt Lake City when he was two years old and moved to Kaysville a short time later. He had lived here since.

As Cattle Freighter
King freighted cattle to Montana in 1865, and made numerous crossings on the plains to conduct parties of L. D. S. immigrants to Salt Lake City. As a member of the L. D. S. church, he was a high priest in the North Davis Stake. He was engaged in farming.

King married Frances E. Robins Nov. 20,1868, in the Salt Lake City L. D. S. Temple. Mrs. King died in August 1936.

Five generations of their male descendants were present at the celebration of King's birthday in February this year.

He is survived by the following children: James F. King, Morgan King, Mrs. James E. Bennett, Mrs. Eli Lythgoe and Mrs. William Nance, all of Kaysville; Mrs. Thomas Nichols, Bluffdale and Mrs. Sam Hall of Ogden; by 29 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Mrs. Henry Thornley, Layton, and Mrs. Mary Barton, Sunset.

Burial Arrangements
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at two p. m. in the Kaysville Tabernacle by Bishop Hubert C. Burton of the Kaysville Ward. Friends may call at the family home Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday until time of services. Interment will be in Kaysville-Layton Memorial Park under direction of Lindquist & Sons of Ogden.

ALONZO M. KING

KAYSVILLE, May 19--Services for Alonzo King, 91, oldest Davis resident, where held Wednesday afternoon in the Kaysville LDS Temple. Bishop H. C. Burton officiated.

Prelude and postlude were played by Myrtle Phillips. Other music was furnished by George L. Blaemires, Vera Cottrell, Mina Webster, James Blaemires and Gladys Simpson. Roell Hyde, Bruce Major, Patriarch Davis E. Layton and Bishop Burton were speakers. Invocation was offtered by James Criddle. James R. Webb pronounced benediction.

Interment was made in Kaysville-Layton Memorial Park. Thomas H. Robins dedicated the grave. Granddaughters and members of the Relief Society were in charge of flowers. Grandsons and nephews were pallbearers.
