Mrs. Ruby Beatty, 61, of 5205 E. Washington Ave., well known locally as an outstanding amateur pottery maker, died yesterday in a local hospital.
Mrs. Beatty was a native Fresnan. During World War II she worked as an aircraft electrician at Hammer Field.
Always interested in painting, Mrs. Beatty turned to pottery after taking a class at Fresno State College. Most of her pottery was fashioned of natice clays which she gathered herself on prospecting trips.
She was a member of the Society of Western Arts Center. Her work often was exhibited at the Fresno District Fair.
Surviving are her husband, Warren; two sons, Jerry of Los Alamos, NM, and Donald of Fresno; a daughter, Mrs. Bernardine Stark of Fresno; a brother, Newton Kincheloe of Fresno, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Lisle Calaveras Chapel. Burial will be in the Belmont Memorial Park.
The family requests that remembrances be in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
