Esther Harris Ball, 63, of Wapello, died at 10:03 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 1998, at Mercy Medical Plaza in Iowa City.
Born Nov. 9, 1934, in Newton, Ga., she was the daughter of Benjamin and Agnes Sheffield Kimbrel. On May 11, 1966, she married Robert D. Harris. He died in Oct. 29, 1976. On Dec. 23, 1989, she married Warren Ball in Wapello.
Mrs. Ball was a farmer. She also was part owner and operator of Harris Plumbing and Heating.
She was a member of Wapello United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Shirley Hopson of Burlington; one son, Jim Collins of Burlington; four grandchildren; her mother of Arlington, Ga.; five brothers, Buck Kimbrel of Pharr, Texas, Benny Kimbrel of Arlington, Ga., Tony Kimbrel of Arlington, Ga., Bobby Kimbrel of Sebring, Fla., and Gene Kimbrel of Buffalo, N.Y.; and three sisters, Geneva Grooms of Amarillo, Texas, Polly Ann Sweanger of Albany, Ga., and Duane Cecere of Arlington, Ga.
Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her father and one brother.
Visitation will begin after noon Monday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Ball will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Doolin officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery in rural Wapello.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society of Louisa County.
