Ruth I. (Kimberling) Evans, 72, of Tyrone passed away on May 19, 2014 at UPMC Altoona. She was born on October 11, 1941, daughter of the late Samuel J. and Margaret (Boughamer) Kimberling. She was married on March 27, 1965 to David G. Evans who survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Kimberly Weinland (Ron) of Lacey's Spring, Al., and Karin Duszak (Peter) of Duryea, Pa.; two sons, David (Christine) of Tunkhannock and John (Nicole) of West Nanticoke; a sister, Kathy Pavlic of Altoona; two brothers, Phillip Kimberling and Robert Kimberling, both of Altoona; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and five brothers. She was a member of Salvation Army Altoona Worship and Service Center. She was a graduate of Tyrone High School, Class of 1961. She enjoyed plastic canvas work, knitting, scrapbooking and anything having to do with crafts. She was a Girl Scout leader.
Friends will be received at The Good Funeral Home, Inc., Altoona, on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. before funeral services on Friday at 11 a.m., with Captain Chuck Niedermyer officiating. Interment will be at Alto Reste Park Cemetery in Altoona. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tyrone Salvation Army Center.
