Sarah Jeanette Britton, 69, of St. Augustine, died Jan. 20, 2009, at her home. She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and had resided in St. Augustine for more than 40 years. She retired from St. Johns County School System. Almost directly after retiring, she became a caregiver for her parents and her late husband, Deacon Robert Britton, until her own health declined.
She was a member of the Deaconess Board, choir member, Pride of Foy Temple No. 43, and Electra Chapter No. 4 OES.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at New St. James M.B. Church, The Rev. Nathaniel Jackson, pastor. Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Monday at New St. James and from 12 noon Tuesday until the hour of service with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

She is survived by her parents, Mattie and Ernest Brent of Palm Coast; a daughter, Latricia Oxendine, St. Augustine; a sister, Elaine Thomas of Palm Coast; a brother, Ronald Kimber of St. Augustine; three aunts, three grandsons, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
