CECIL M. (WESTERVELT) KILMER February 3, 1910 - February 12, 2004 Cecil M. Kilmer, 94, recently of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 12, 2004. She was born on a farm in southeast Kansas to Ethel L. Daron and Clayton Westervelt. She grew up on the family farm, graduating from Columbus, Kansas High School in 1928. After completing business school, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked for the federal government for over 40 years. In 1972, she retired to West Palm Beach, where she lived until July 2003. She was married to Allen Kilmer in 1936; they later divorced. She is survived by two brothers and one sister. Cecil was a gifted, candid and witty conversationalist and known for her sharp wit. She was an avid bird watcher, naturalist, gardener and world traveler; making many trips throughout the United Sates and the entire world to study the different species of birds and plants. She was also born with a ‘green thumb'. All her life she nurtured a deep love, respect and appreciation for all growing things, and joined several organizations to develop this interest. She was a member of Rare Fruits; Audubon Society of the Everglades where she served as membership chairperson, and served on the Conservation Committee for many years. She was treasurer of her condo association and was consultant for the landscape committee. A lifelong democrat, she was a member of the Lake Worth West Democratic Club. It was her desire for cremation and that there be no funeral service.
