Andrew Kier was Scotch-Irish from County Antrim, Northern Ireland born to a Scottish family. He was the son of William and Mary Kier. We see that his grandfather Andrew and father William arrived in Washington County, Pennsylvania by 1790. Young Andrew Kier met and eventually married Catherine Miller in Pennsylvania in 1801. They settled for a while in Cumberland, PA. The children of Andrew Kier and Catherine Miller Kier include William, Matthias, Barbara Kier Ratchford, Mary Kier Prindal, and James Andrew Kier. By 1830, the family had moved to Eagle Township, Brown County, Ohio where Andrew Kier died in 1836.
