John Thomas Kienzle was born to Gottlieb Kienzle and Mary Wallace in Alberta, Canada. His mother died when he was two years old and his dad died when he was about 12 years. They are both buried in Canada.
His aunt Stella St. Ores and uncle William Wallace raised him. After his uncle died he moved to Concrete, Skagit, Washington where he found work as a lumberjack. There he worked with Jack and Wesley Dillard, brothers of Peggy.
On 3 July 1943 he married Peggy L Dillard in Concrete, Washington.
Later they moved to Chelan, Washington where they picked apples for a while and then moved to Wallace, Idaho and he worked in the coal mines; then moved to Moses Lake, Washington to farm; and moved again ending in Warden where they lived out the rest of their lives farming. They left behind two daughters, Mary Kienzle Owen and DorothyKienzle Eppich.
