Darlene Bertha Kibbel was born January 24, 1941 at Mott, ND to Otto and Bertha (Haas) Kibbel. She was born with cerebral palsy and lived in nursing homes in Mott and Hettinger, ND. She moved to Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen where she resided for a few years until moving to Huron in 1988 where she resided at the Huron Adjustment Training Center.
Darlene loved life! She was very active in her church, attending Bible studies and classes every week. Darlene attended Sunday services with her friend and advocate each week as well. Darlene loved to go shopping, old western movies, specifically John Wayne, she loved music and adored Billy Ray Cyrus. She met him once, and this was the highlight of her life! Darlene had many friends, and always greeted people with her beautiful and sunny smile. She was a great friend, co-worker, confidant, and will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She passed away on Tuesday, October 3, at the Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron, SD.
Surviving family members include her mother, Bertha Kibbel; 1 brother, Alvin Kibbel, both of Mott, ND; 2 sisters, Millie Harris, Aberdeen, SD; and Priscilla Linghor, Williston, ND.
She was preceded in death by her father, 2 sisters, Marilyn Iverson and Serena Kibbel; 3 brothers, Dale, Miles, and Edwin Kibbel.
The Graveside Service for Darlene B. Kibbel, age 65 of Huron, formerly of Mott, ND will be held Saturday, October 7, at Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott with Pastor John Amundson officiating.
