Pana, Feb. 15 - Funeral services were held this morning at the First Methodist church here for Dow M. Keyes. The body is to be taken to Springfield over the train this afternoon and burial will be made there in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Dow M. Keyes, one of Pana's oldest, most respected and well to do retired business men, died at the Huber hospital Sunday evening of pneumonia, following only a few days' illness. His brother, Noah G. Keyes, and the latter's daughter, Mamie, were with him when he passed away.

Mr. Keyes was 84 years of age and had been a pioneer resident of Pana. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Keyes, died some two years ago. Their only son, Allen Keyes, died at the age of twelve years. This was about twenty years ago. For many years, dating back into the early seventies, Mr. Keyes was engaged in the hay and grain business in Pana and was unusually successful. He was a man of the strictest integrity and held the esteem and good will of all who possessed his acquaintance.

Since the death of his beloved wife, two years ago, he had kept house at his home. The home life of Mr. Keyes and wife was lovable in the extreme and when his wife died it had a very depressing effect upon him and there seemed to be a decline in his health from that time. Deceased was a faithful and consistent member of the First Methodist church of this city and a constant attendant upon the services of that denomination. He held many offices in the church and was for years the treasurer. IL State Register, Springfield, Il, 2-15-1921
