Doctor Richard Childress Key was born July 15, 1820 in Jasper Co., Georgia to Thomas Key and Sarah R Jones. Richard was the fifth of ten children. He married Mariah Smith April 7, 1839 in Butts Co., Georgia. They had nine children Elijah Ward, Sarah Jones, William Austin, Mary Catherine, Abraham Pennington, Richard Lovic, Thomas Dewitt, Joseph Henry and Judith Watts. He passed away April 11,1877.
