Betty Jean Kettler Bronstad, 76, of Clifton, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Betty Jean Kettler was born in Clifton, Texas, to the late Edward Henry Otto Kettler and Margaret Grace (Schmidt) Kettler. She was one of eight children. She was raised in the Coon Creek and Womack communities and attended Womack schools. Being second in line of eight brought many responsibilities to her, and required a maturity of spirit that lasted throughout her lifetime.
She could be counted on to do any type of farm chore, countless house cleaning duties, or worst of all, looking after her younger brothers and sister — all of which she did with humor, wisdom and a zest for life.
On March 5, 1949, she married Arthur P. (Buck) Bronstad. The couple lived in and around the Clifton and Norse communities where she spent most of her time as a homemaker and amateur psychologist to the Kettler family in general.
She not only kept her home and children in order, but worked for many years at Walls Manufacturing Company in Clifton. In addition, she remained a faithful member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where her children still attend.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck; son, Dennis Joe; brothers, Edward and James Kettler; and sister, Carolyn Olsen.
Survivors include her sons, Terry Bronstad and wife, Bridget, of Glen Rose, Ronny Bronstad and wife, Debbie, of Palestine, and J.B. Bronstad and wife, Wendy, of Clifton; daughter, Beth Robinette, of Clifton; brothers, Butch Kettler and wife, Georgeanne, of Clifton, Smokey Kettler and wife, Nelda, of Clifton, and Johnny Kettler and wife, Alta, of Smithville; sister, Etta Carter, of Clifton; sister-in-law, Betty Nell Kettler, of Waco; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brian Bronstad, Joshua Bronstad, Jason Robinette, Jon Bronstad, and Christopher Price, with honorary pallbearers, her granddaughters, Missy Bronstad, Mandy Bronstad, and Kimberly Price.
Memorials may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home.
