She was born July 9, 1943 in Pekin to Roy Wesley and Zelma Esther (Boyer) Kettering.
Surviving are her mother, Zelma Kettering of Pekin; two daughters, Kimberly R. (Ron) Belcher of Kingston Mines and Taunya D. Schreiber of Pekin; one son, Eric L. Yarbrough of Peoria; six grandchildren, Gerald E. "Jerry" (Amy) Stahl, III and Joshua R. Stahl, both Peoria, Jacob A. Stahl of Kingston Mines, and Thad M. Justice, Ashlie N. Schreiber, and Jerica J. Yarbrough, all of Pekin; and one sister, Cheryl (Don) Knauss of Rockford.
Her father preceded her in death.
Barbara worked for Herget Bank in Pekin as a teller at the Parkway office for 15 years. She later worked in the cash office at the Pekin Wal-Mart. She then was an administrative assistant at Faith, Hope, and Love in Peoria until moving to Iowa. When she returned from Iowa, she worked again in the cash office at the Pekin Wal-Mart, last working August 2005.
Barbara enjoyed sewing, cooking, and cake decorating. She was looking forward to the birth of her great-grandson, due in February.
Her funeral will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. The Rev. Paul Cook will officiate. Private burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
