Rebecca Mitchell Dean was the daughter of Absalom and Sarah (Martin) Ketcham. She married Hosea J Dean on August 27, 1846 in Montgomery County, Indiana.

Mason City Globe Gazette, January 14, 1920:
Mrs. Rebecca M. Ketcham Dean Corbett, an old and respected resident of Mason City, passed away shortly before midnight last night. She was 91 years, 5 months and 5 days old.
When at the age of three years, she, with her parents, Absalom and Sara Ketcham, moved to Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana and resided there until her marriage at the age of 17 years to Hosea J. Dean, on the 27th day of September, 1846. They lived near Crawfordsville 3 years, then Mr. and Mrs. Dean moved from there to Marshall County, Iowa. Mr. Dean's father and mother accompanied them to what was then a wild and barren country, with only two white families residing there, the balance of the population being Indians, but of a civil tribe, the Pottawattamies. They lived in Marshall County nearly 20 years, or until the spring of 1869, when they removed to Hampton, Iowa, and lived there one and one half years, the removed to Mason City, Iowa and resided there until the death of Mr. Dean, which occurred on the 22nd day of December, 1880, leaving her with and 5 children surviving him. To this union there were born10 children, who were: Absalom H., Cornelius V., Kezia L., Alvah G., Alathea, Daniel L., Ida A., Josiah P., Bertie Smith and Caroline Josephine.

Mrs. Dean was from a child, religiously inclined, but never united with any church until 1861. The Christian church being her choice, she was baptized into that faith. Mr. Dean then became converted and was baptized into the same church, just 4 weeks from the time of Mrs. Dean's baptism, by the Rev. Wm. C. Smith, life-long friend of the family. Also the Rev. Wm. C. Smith preached Mr. Dean's funeral at Mason City. Mr. and Mrs. Dean lived happily together until God saw fit to call him to his heavenly home.

Mrs. Dean was remarried in May, 1884 to G.W. Corbett at Marshalltown, Iowa and stayed there 2 years, when Mr. Corbett then went to western Kansas and took up a claim. Mrs. Corbett soon followed to their new home; they lived there until the death of Mr. Corbett which occurred on the 24th day of January, 1891. No children were born to this union. After the death of Mr. Corbett, Mrs. Corbett then moved to Bloomfield, Neb., in the year of 1891, and lived there until 1903, when she then with her daughter, Mrs. A.M. Young, moved back to Mason City, their former home, and has resided here ever since, with her daughter, Mrs. Young.
