Mr. Kesler was born at Pennsylvania September 21, 1829. He moved with his parents to Wauson, near Dayton, Ohio, and in 1851 married Miss Caroline Hettinger, who died January 17, 1856. He married again to Miss Elizabeth Alfrado in 1861, who died February 20, 1876.
He enlisted in the 100th Ohio Infantry, served five years and later married Mrs. Ellen J. Nice. They lived in Nebraska until 1903 then came to Forest Grove.
Memorial services by GAR and Methodist Church. He leaves his wife, four of his own children survive: A. L., Beaverton; John, a printer at Astoria; Charles, Red Cloud, Neb.; Mrs. M. A Hoffman, Valdez, Alaska; and the following step-children: Charles Nice and Mrs. Nora Wilhelmson, Forest Grove.
