RICE LAKE, Wis. — Phyllis Smith, 90, of Rice Lake, Wis., died Friday, August 12, 2011, at Heritage Manor in Rick Lake.
Memorial service will be held in Davenport, Iowa, on September 17, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Davenport Memorial Park.
She was born on January 15, 1921, in Mt. Sterling, Ill., to Alfred and Pearl (Norton) Kerr. After graduating high school in Mt. Sterling, she graduated from Gem City Business School in Quincy, Ill. Phyllis married Justus Smith in 1947 and they resided in Davenport for many years. Phyllis was employed and retired from French & Hecht in Davenport. After retirement she moved to Naples, Florida.
Phyllis was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, volunteer for the Naples Community Hospital and LUVS for Youth haven, having served on both boards as director. After several years she moved to Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
Phyllis is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Deanna of Rice Lake, Wis., Jon and Patricia of Davenport, Iowa, and Casey and Airita of Temecula, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Justus Smith, three sons, Richard, Jeffery, and James Smith, and one grandson, T.J. Smith.
