Birth: Apr. 28, 1958
Norfolk City
Virginia, USA
Death: Nov. 18, 1978

She lived in San Francisco, California before she moved to Jonestown, Guyana where she lived in Cottage 05. She was employed as a child care supervisor, student, and key punch operator. She entered Guyana on July 27, 1977. Daughter of Penny Kerns aka Ellen Louise Dupont, Penny Silver. She is survived by sisters, Jeanette and Ruth Ellen Reichardt (who died of breast cancer), and a brother, Philip, who wrote a book about his family's experience with Rev. Jim Jones entitled "The People's Temple; People's Tomb." Philip was an outspoken concerned relative and critic of Jones and the People's Temple. When he first learned of Ryan's death, he telephoned frantically to get assistance to Jonestown, San Francisco, and Georgetown where the People's Temple had a site. Except for Jonestown where the deaths including Carol and her mother, Penny, died, only four deaths occurred in Georgetown with Jones' righthand lieutenant Sharon Amos who murdered her children before killing herself with a knife as his final order. While in San Francisco and Los Angeles, no deaths occurred but Philip's concern stretched to make the local authorities in San Francisco aware of a possible mass suicide in their midst. It didn't happen there but in Jonestown where over 900 died.
