Mary Antoinette (Kernan) Clark

Mary Antoinette Clark (nee Kernan), Age 84, a longtime resident of Naperville, IL, died Monday, October 9, 2006 at St. Patrick's Residence, Naperville. She was born August 30, 1922 in Chicago.

Mary is survived by her husband, Walter J. Clark of Naperville, whom she married June 28, 1947; four Children, Maureen (Bob) Greene of Naperville, Bob Clark of Grants Pass, OR, Kathy (Pete) Inorio of Naperville and Tom (Patty) Clark of Naperville; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonathan Greene of Orlando, FL, Katy Clark of Boise, ID, Elin, Peter and Mary Inorio of Naperville, Brad and Caitlin Clark of Naperville; two brothers, Jack (Patsy) Kernan of Oak Park, IL and Bill (Mary) Kernan of Michigan; a brother-in-Law,- Tom (Evie) Clark of Orange, CA; cousins, Monica (Mike) Caffarella of Henderson, NV and Greg Clark of Sewanee, TN; and several loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Kernan.

Mary had a positive impact on many people that she encountered during her life on earth. She provided selfless love and encouragement to those that were in need.

She was an active and devoted member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Naperville where she will be dearly missed. Mary was a member of the parish for 42 years, serving in a variety of capacities throughout the years.

Mary volunteered at Hines VA Hospital, Hines, IL for many years as well as at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She helped many to find spiritual solace during times of trouble. During World War II, Mary volunteered at the USO where she encouraged and gave hope to soldiers going to and returning from war. Mary loved the arts and enjoyed painting, casting ceramics, playing the piano and listening to a wide variety of music. She also was a great athlete, enjoyed golf, bowling and baseball.

Mary was very proud of the accomplishments of all her children, grandchildren, and those she shared her life with. She lived her faith and encouraged others to do so as well. That she found peace and joy through her beliefs was evident to those who knew her. The butterfly was the symbol which she loved, as it showed the possibilities of the transformation of the human spirit.

Visitation Wednesday, October 11, 3:00-9:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Services will begin Thursday, October 12, 9:15 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville with Rev. Patrick Mulcahy officiating.

Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.

In lieu of flowers, may be made to: St. Patrick's Residence, 1400 Brookdale Rd., Naperville, IL 60563 OR St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville, IL 60540.
