Mrs. Carothers was a longtime member of Columbus Order of the Eastern Star. During World War II, she served with the Signal Corps at Arvin Industries and had been a secretary for Dr. William J. Ryan.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Garland Brook Cemetery. There will be no calling.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Kidney Foundation or Bartholomew County Humane Society.

Mrs. Carothers was born April 23, 1924, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Roy J. and Ruby Roberts Kent. She married Donald Carothers May 7, 1948.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Tom D. Carothers of Columbus; and a granddaughter, Lisanne Jensen of Cohoes, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kenneth Kent.
