John James Kenney
Age 66, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Hockessin, DE, passed away on January 12, 2009.
John was born in Wilmington, DE in 1942. He graduated from Salesianum High School in 1960. John served his country, as a U.S. Navy Seabee, serving two tours of duty 67-69, in Vietnam. He was a 45 year member of the Electrician's Union IBEW Local 313 where he had many fond memories and was known for his sense of humor. John enjoyed vacationing with his family to Disney World. He enjoyed camping, cooking, and his dogs. John was a liver and kidney recipient through the gift of transplantation, in which his life was extended for nine years.
Mr. John J. Kenney is preceded in death by his parents, John J. Kenney, Sr. and Julia M. Murphy Kenney. He is survived by his wife Karen M. Kenney and his daughter, Amanda M. Kenney of Jacksonville, FL; his daughter, Carrie E. Kenney of Newark, DE and his son, John J. Kenney, III and wife Stephanie Scherry Kenney and granddaughters, Stella Rose and Sophia Grace Kenney of Hockessin DE; and his sister, Christa M. Kenney of Ardmore, PA.
Family and friends may call at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin on Friday, January 16, from 9-11 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary's of The Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
