DAVENPORT - Funeral services celebrating the life of Agnes L. McFedries-Kennedy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, at Third Missionary Baptist Church, 222 W 14th St, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation was held Friday, December 30, 2007, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Third Missionary Baptist Church. A beautiful soul left our lives Saturday, December 22, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, Davenport. Agnes Anderson Lashbrooke McFedries was born September 28, 1956, in Davenport, a daughter of John "Scotty" and Jean McFedries. She graduated from Davenport Central High School and then Iowa State University with a degree in teaching. In earlier years she had taught at Williams Jr. High School, Davenport. Agnes was always neat and well groomed, with an abounding sense of humor that automatically gave her a great, genuine almost perpetual smile. She always supported the underdog, offering assistance and encouragement whenever it seemed appropriate. More aware than most of the "other fellows" perspective it gave her a very kindly demeanor easily seen. Her greatest attribute though was her abiding generosity. If she believed she had something you liked, it was yours, mattering not if it was clothing or a trinket, she would make you take it and in the end convince you that you were doing her a favor. Her penmanship was impeccable and she had a special flare for art and decorating that extended into the kitchen and she impressed many with her culinary skills. She enjoyed baseball, long walks, music, the arts, reading, frequenting the John Lewis Coffee Shop and helping people in need. Agnes believed in God and shared pamphlets of faith with others. In earlier years Agnes had been a member of the Hand Bell Choir of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her children Andrew McFedries, Desiree McFedries, Athena Kennedy and John Keenan McFedries; grandchildren, Camarion and Chrystopher; mother, Jean McFedries; father, Scotty McFedries; sister, Kate (Jeff) Heuer; brother, Norman (Dorothy) McFedries, all of Davenport; and sister, Jennifer Mayweather, Beverly Hills, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. The essence of her life shall live on in our hearts forever.
