Nelson L. "Bill" Kennedy Sr., 84, of Richmond, widower of Mary Ellen Harlow Kennedy, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012. He is survived by four children, Nelson L. Kennedy Jr., Bruce H. Kennedy and his wife, Connie, Emily E. Oxendine and Charles B. Kennedy; two grandchildren, Tracy Oxendine and Adam Oxendine; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen P. Kennedy and David A. Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was retired from C&P Telephone Company. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 23. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
