FORMER PHONE CHIEF HERE IS DEAD // WILDER KENDALL DIES FOLLOWING LENGTHY HEART ILLNESS
The death of G. Wilder Kendall, 76, first manager of the telephone company here and former custodiam of the Elks Lodge of which he was a member, occurred Friday morning at 10:15 o'clock at his home at 31 North Spring street. He had been confined to his bed the last three weeks and was critically ill about a week. He had been in ill health several years of heart trouble.
A life resident of the county, he was born here on Jan 15, 1864 to Berthrie and Julia Amelia Hoover Kendall. He was a member of a family of five boys and one girl. On Sept. 30, 1903 he was united in marriage with Jessie Chandler.
Suriving are the widow; a son, Paul Kendall, and a daughter, Mrs. Claude Wirick, both at home; a grandson, Claude Wirick; two brothers, Charles C. Kendall of Kokomo and Warren B. Kendall of Miami, Fla. A sister, Emma Malloch, died last year.
He was the last living charter member of the K of P Lodge, also a member of the Elks Lodge and the Presbyterian church. He was forced three years ago to resign his position as custodian of the Elks Lodge, which he had held for 17 years, because of ill health.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Hoover Funeral home with Rev. Ware W. Wimberly of the Presbyterian church officiating. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. The body will be returned to the late residence Friday evening and will remain here until Sunday forenoon when it will be removed to the Hoover Funeral home.
