BAMBERG - Services for Annie Mae Kemp, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2001, at First Baptist Church of Bamberg. Interment will be in Memory Gardens near Bamberg. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 this evening at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Tom and Penny Kemp in Turbeville. Prior to services the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Freewill Baptist Home for Children, P.O. Box 229, Turbeville, SC 29162, or to the Autistic Foundation of South Carolina, 652 Bush River Rd., Columbia, SC 29210.

Mrs. Kemp, wife of the late Thomas Edward Kemp Sr., died Sunday, November 11, 2001, in Laurel Gardens, Florence. Born in Bamberg, she was a daughter of the late James Jefferson and Henrietta Beard Hughes. She was a retired dietitian, having worked at Bamberg High School and the Bamberg Hospital. Mrs. Kemp was a member of First Baptist Church and active in the Sunday School. After her retirement she did volunteer work.

Surviving are her son, Tom (Penny) Kemp Jr. of Turbeville; daughters, Linda (Jack) Stevenson of Tega Cay, Barbara Ann (Spencer) Ferguson of Bamberg; brother, Wenzell Hughes of Bamberg; sister, Myrtle Boineau of Adams Run; daughter-in-law, Anne Kemp of Evergreen; grandchildren, Mardie Kemp, Sonja Carr, Cliff Kemp, Tamara Stevenson Hooper, John Stevenson, Ashleigh Kemp, Tripp Kemp; four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Jim Kemp, and a grandson, Spence Ferguson.
