From an online genealogy listing:
"Joyce Yvonne Kelly, the eldest daughter of Harry Floyd and Sadie Virginia (Hardin) Kelly, grew up in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Following the death of her parents in 1936, Joyce was raised by her paternal Aunt and Uncle, James Elbert and Mollie Louise (Kelly) Fagg. She was a member of the high school glee club and a sextet, participating in two school plays. Joyce would spend weekends with her paternal Aunt and Uncle, Harry Russel and Josephine Ione (Kelly) Doan, tending the soda fountain in their pharmacy in Miami, Oklahoma. It was there that she met Loren Orville Andersen on October 9, 1943. Loren had been sent by the United States Army Air Corp to Miami to attend flight school with the Royal Air Force, who had been sent to the United States to learn to fly due to heavy bombing in England during World War II.
Joyce moved to Chicago, Illinois following graduation from Baxter Springs High School in 1944. She lived in a girls club while attending business college in Chicago. It was at the Methodist Temple in Chicago where Loren and Joyce were wed on October 13, 1944, and after a brief two day honeymoon at the Edgewater Beach Hotel, Loren returned to duty in Jorhat, India. Joyce moved to Tacoma, Washington to await Loren's discharge which came on January 2, 1946.
Joyce worked for Day's Tailor-d Clothing in Tacoma. Joyce later went to work for Seattle First National Bank as Secretary to the Consumer Credit Department, and then was employed by various State of Washington agencies, including Department of Labor and Industries and Department of Personnel. Joyce retired from the State of Washington with a medical disability (diabetes) on November 30, 1984.
Joyce enjoyed many years of camping, knitting, reading, cooking, and a long running membership in the Ruth Rebekah, Ladies Auxiliary of the IOOF (like her mother), where she achieved Noble Grand.
Joyce Yvonne (Kelly) Andersen's obituary appeared in the October 23, 1986 edition of the Olympian. She is buried in Olympic Memorial Gardens in Tumwater, Washington."
