Marjorie Elizabeth Kelly, 89, of Davenport, Iowa died Friday, April 22, 2011 at The Kahl Home. Private services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Kahl Home, with Father Joe Rogers as celebrant. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home or to the Alzheimer's Association. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport is assisting with these arrangements.
Mrs. Kelly was born in 1922 in Davenport to William and Lillian Meyers. She married Alvin J. Kelly on April 19, 1947 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1987. A loving wife and mother, her husband and children were her life, especially her grandchildren. She was creative as a seamstress and as a cook, enjoying family gatherings, family camping trips in Wisconsin, and flower gardening. She was such a gentle and kind person, the world was a sweeter place with "Margie" in it.
Survivors include her daughters, Debby Gray, and Pam (David) Tillotson; sons, Jim (Jan) Kelly and Kevin (Carol) Kelly, all of Davenport; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
