George J. Kelley Bridgewater Bulletin

Following an illness of several months duration, George J. Kelley, well-known monument manufacturer and prominent citizen of Bridgewater, passed away at his home here,afternoon on Saturday.

The late Mr. Kelley was born at Halifax 72 years ago and was a son of the late Edward and Margaret Kelley (Margaret Mae Noughton). Before moving to Bridgewater in 1893, Mr.Kelley resided in the United States for a number of years. His wife, who was Miss B. Sanford of Halifax, predeceased him fourteen years ago.

He is survived by one son, George W., associated with his late father in business; three daughters, Bernice, wife of W.C. Munroe, Halifax; Cecelia of Lawrence, Mass.; and Sister Frances Joseph of St. Joseph's Convent, Halifax. The youngest daughter, Geraldine, died about five years ago.

The deceased was a devout member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, where a short service was conducted at noon on Monday, after which the body was forwarded to the home of Mrs. Munroe, 79 Chestnut Street, Halifax. At nine o'clock on Tuesday morning Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church by Rev. W.A. Penny of Bridgewater. Interment took place at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
