Evelyn Anne Kelley Ballenger, age 76 of Pinebluff died on Monday, September 26, 2011 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
She was born on July 17, 1935 in Greenwood, SC to the late William Thomas and Annie Rae Kindley Kelley.
She was a graduate from Greenwood High School Class of 1952, then later received her B.A. from Lander College in Greenwood, Class of 1956 where she graduated with the honors of Valedictorian.
She and her husband, Don, were married on November 27, 1954 and resided in Greenwood, SC. She taught English and History in both the North and South Carolina public school systems in various areas as she followed Don's calling to the ministry. She enjoyed writing, drawing, sewing and was a devoted grandmother. She was a member of Ives Memorial Baptist Church in Pinebluff.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rev. Don L. Ballenger of Pinebluff; two sons: Donald Kelley Ballenger and wife Marsha of Independence, VA; Lee Ballenger of Greenwood, SC; two daughters: Sarah Lynn Ballenger Haithcock of Greenwood, SC and Rachel Anne Ballenger Erbschloe of Aberdeen, NC; a brother, William Thomas Kelley, Jr. and his wife Rose of Saratoga Springs, NY. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.at Ives Memorial Baptist Church in Pinebluff. Private burial will be held at Pinebluff Cemetery.
