Patrick Andrew Kelleher Sr., 67, of Apache Junction, Ariz., passed away Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2011) at his home, after an extended illness.
Patrick was born Oct. 19, 1943, one of 13 children born to James Walter and Flora Belle Adam Kelleher of Chenoa, where he attended school. He lived and worked as a sheet metal worker in the Braidwood and Wilmington areas for 30 years, before moving to Apache Junction in 2007. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 265 of Schaumburg; the Masonic Lodge 208 of Wilmington, Sons of the American Legion Post 27 in Apache Junction, where he served on the Color Guard, the Moose Club and the VFW Post 9399 of Apache Junction. He enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing and hunting. He enjoyed watching Chicago football and baseball and attending many NASCAR races.
He married Diane Warner in 2010, who survives along with his children, Martha (Kelleher) Salinas, Andy, Bernard and Gregory, all of Dwight, Angela Marie Kelleher, of Braidwood, and Theresa, of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Kelleher, of St. Anne, Kathryn (Kelleher) Ruffalo, of Chicago, and Margaret (Kelleher) Lanphear, of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Raymond and Thomas, of Spokane, Wash., Stephen, of Chenoa, and William of Phoenix; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roger, Bernard and Francis; and two sisters, Eleanor and Mary.
A memorial service was held Jan. 29 at the American Legion Post in Apache Junction. A memorial service in Illinois is being planned for a later date.
Patrick enjoyed being around people and people enjoyed being around him. He will be greatly missed. (Pd.)
