Kenneth David Kelleher, 54, passed away unexpectedly February 25, 2014 at his home in Sparks, Nevada with his wife of 18 years Sheryl Ann Kelleher. He was born in Benson Arizona September 12, 1959 to the late Mary and Frank Kelleher.
Ken graduated from John H. Francis Polytechnic High School in Van Nuys, California and went on to receive a Culinary Arts Degree from Los Angeles Trade Technical College. He and Sheryl married November 16, 1996.Ken began his career at Harrah's Stateline making $5 an hour. He went on to become a highly respected, accomplished Chef and his love of the Culinary Arts spanned over 35 years. At the time of his death, Ken was the Executive Chef for the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno. He was a proud member of the High Sierra Chef's Association and often donated his time and catering skills to various causes. Ken was an avid drag racing fan as well as a voracious reader with a photographic memory and a love of music. He most recently finished restoring his late brother Paul's 1972 Plymouth Duster.
Ken is preceded in death by his mother Mary Kelleher (Russell), his father Frank Kelleher, his brother Paul Kelleher and his sister Sheila Spaid.
He is survived by his brother Frank Kelleher and his step children Kyle Tranchida and Sgt. Thomas Williams.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held March 16th at 12pm in the Exposition Hall at the Silver Legacy, Reno. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to help cover expenses at any Wells Fargo Bank, made out to The Kelleher Memorial Fund. Any unused funds will be donated in Ken and Sheryl's memory.
