Daniel Patrick Kelleher, Aug. 1, 1919-Mar. 10, 2012, resident of San Jose, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2012 at the age of 92 surrounded by his loving family. He will be remembered as a spiritual, loving, generous and caring person. He had the utmost integrity, a love of public speaking, a twinkle in his eye, and a quick Irish wit. Born in San Francisco on August 1st 1919 to John and Mary Kelleher, both immigrants from Ireland, Dan was a devoted husband of 67 years to Lillian Kelleher; a loving father to Judi Hinkle (Robert), Donna Sexton (Dean) and Mimi Waldrum (Kriss); and an adored "Papa" to 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mourned by his siblings, Margaret Giles and James Kelleher. Preceded in death by brothers Jack and Frank Kelleher. Dan graduated from Mission High School, San Francisco, in 1937. Wanting to teach his family the value of an education, he attended night classes at College of San Mateo, graduating with honors at the age of 57! Dan was a member of the St. Roberts Men's Club, Knights of Columbus, San Mateo Elks, and Toastmasters International. He was President of the Sanitary and Maintenance Suppliers of No. Calif. He proudly served in the US Navy Department of Intelligence, Radio and Censorship. He worked for Standard Oil Co., Easterday Supply, and was the owner of Merit Sanitary Supply. Upon selling his business, he continued his lifelong passion of sales at Rochester Midland until he retired at the young age of 90! Dan's happiest times were doing anything with his "little Lillian", spending time with family and friends, and winning wagers with his putter on the golf course. The Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Thurs. March 15th At Darling-Fischer Mortuary, 615 N. Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos. Funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 10:30, 5111 San Felipe Rd, San Jose. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Kaiser Hospice of San Jose. "If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again."
