BUFFALO — Daniel Keleher Ahern, 93, of Buffalo died Monday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2001, at his home. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with Father Charles Taylor as celebrant. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with military graveside services by the VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel and Friday evening at the church. Mr. Ahern was born Feb. 2, 1907, in Charlestown, N.H., to Thomas and Mary Ahern. He and his brothers homesteaded west of Kaycee. He married Mildred Frances Castle June 19, 1933. He taught school in Kaycee and Buffalo 37 years and was principal of Buffalo Junior High School for more than 20 years. He coached basketball and track. He was a World War II veteran, participating in campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, Palmero, Anzio and the liberation of France, and was recipient of citations including the Legion of Merit, Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star and Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include three sons, Dan and Bill, both of El Paso, Texas, and Tom of Meeker, Colo.; two sisters, Ann Worthley of Charleston, N.H., and Marjorie Linell of Hanover, N.H.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
