Lt. John Jefferson Keeter, Jr. was killed in action when he was serving with the US Army Air Corps. He was a graduate of Throckmorton High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University for one year before entering Texas A&M College, where he graduated. After graduation, he spent 10 weeks training at Love Field, Randolph Field, and Kelly Field. He received his wings on 7 February 1941. His first assignment was as an officer operator of the 90th Bombardment Squadron, stationed at Savannah, Georgia. While there, he was sent to Miami as a guard for Prime Minister Churchhill of England on his visit there. The flying officer sailed from San Francisco on 29 January 1942. Survivors include his parents; five brothers; two sisters.
