Mrs. Keeling Services Held at Church
Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Mary Keeling, 93, a resident of the Hatton and Lind communities for many years, were held Saturday at the Lind Methodist Church.
Mrs. Keeling died Wednesday, Aug. 31 at a Spokane nursing home where she had been since June.
Rev. R. W. Richey officiaated at the service, followed by interment at the Lind cemetery. Pallbearers were Waldo Eden, Wendell Longmeier, Ray Watkins, Charles Rushmeier, Ben Gross and Gene Sitton.
Mrs. Keeling was born in Georgia Sept. 16, 1867 and was reared on a farm in Missouri.
She married Albert Keeling in 1886 in Missouri and they homesteaded in Hatton. The couple moved to Stevens county for a short time before moving back to Lind.
Mr. Keeling, who worked on farms in this area most of his lfe, preceded his wife in death in 1957. Four of the eight children born to the couple also preceded her in death.
Surviving are twin daughters, Mrs. Clara Payne of Marysvile, and Mrs. Cora Hoezel of Milwaukee, Wis., and another daughter, Mrs. Chuck Carpenter of Spokane; a son, Leonard of Lind; three brothers, Will Hays of Othello, Bob Hays of Hatton and Earl Hays of Ukiah, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
