DEATH OF MRS. BAYLOR
Mrs. L. B. Baylor died Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at the Proctor hospital in Peoria, following an operation to which she submitted the latter part of last week. Word was received from her bedside Tuesday that she was doing nicely and was able to take a little nourishment, and relatives and friends felt good, but Wednesday at about noon, Dr. Hanna called from Peoria and said her condition was critical and there were no hopes for her. Mr. Baylor left immediately for the hospital, she she passed away before he reached there.
J. C. Cowser went to Peoria, and brought the remains to her home at the corner of West Fulton street and North West streets.
With the passing of Mrs. Baylor, Farmington has lost one of her most highly respected citizens, and one whose work and kindness shall not be forgotten soon. Perhaps no other woman worked more faithfully during the war for our boys than did she, and aside from her household duties practically every moment was spent in working for them. And she gave her only son to assist in the war.
Deceased was a daughter of Atherine and Mary Jane Keeling and was born in Canton, and at her death was 65 years of age. The Keeling family moved to this vicinity and practically all her life was spent here. About 30 years ago she was united in marriage to L. B. Baylor of this city, and to them two children were born, one having died in infancy, and Clifford, with the husband and father surviving. There also survive the following sisters and brother, Miss Helen, of this city, Mrs. Alice Pogue and Jesse Keeling, both of Long Beach, Calif. One brother, Oscar, is deceased.
Mrs. Baylor was a member of the Baptist church and has always lived a true Christian life, a life not only for herself, but for others. Funeral arrangements will not be completed until word has been received from the son, who is in Wyoming.
