BEAVER SPRINGS - Harvey A. Keefer, 88, of Beaver Springs RR1, died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at his home, following a brief illness. Born April 15, 1912, in Fisherville, Dauphin County, he was a son of the late Charles S. and Cora E. (Hassinger) Keefer. His wife, Marjorie M. (Schechterly) Keefer, to whom he was married April 15, 1934 by her father, Rev. John R. Schechterly, in McClure, survives. Also surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Elmer R. "Bud" (Marian J.) Reed, Carlisle, Mrs. Gerald E. (Darlis S.) Aumiller, Mechanicsburg and Mrs. Wayne (Marjorie "Peggy") Aigler, Beavertown; sister and brother, Mary Wetzel, Elmira, NY and Clarence Keefer, Norristown; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Keiter and four brothers, Norman, Marlin, Ralph and Elmer Keefer. He was a member of Beavertown United Methodist Church. In 1974, he retired from the Selinsgrove Center after 17 years in the laundry department. Earlier in life, he worked at Standard Steel, Burnham and the former Keefer Roller Mills. He enjoyed watching birds, gardening and fishing. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beavertown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Schroeder officiating. Interment will be in the Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the church. There will be no evening viewing. The Aurand Funeral Home, Beavertown, is in charge of arrangements.
