Rose Marie Auten, 82, of Keefer Mill Road, Danville, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 9, 2015.
Born in Danville on March 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late James S. and Rose Ann (Tanner) Keefer. She was married on July 19, 1952, to Donald E. Auten, who preceded her in death in 2008.
Rose was a 1950 graduate from Danville High School and was an active member of Mooresburg Presbyterian Church. Earlier in life, she worked in the medical records department at Geisinger Medical Center. She was then a homemaker and worked part time at George’s Butcher Shop, Danville, and at Bryfogle’s Greenhouse in Washingtonville. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and canning and freezing vegetables. She bowled in a few leagues at Midway Lanes in Danville and was involved at the Montour County Senior Center. Rose was a dedicated blood donor.
She is survived by six children and their spouses: Donna and Donald Kreischer of Danville; Mary and James Cram of Danville; Joann and Daniel Deihl of Danville; Eugene and Cindy Auten of Danville; Barbara and Kim Harris of Anderson, S.C.; and Ruth and Paul Linder of Norcross, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren
Rose was preceded in death by two brothers: J. Bruce Keefer and Paul E. Keefer; a sister, Adda Herr, and a granddaughter, Karen Cram.
Friends and relatives will be received 2-3 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at Mooresburg Presbyterian Church, 9 Church Drive, Danville, where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. John H. Shaw III officiating. Burial will be in Mooresburg Presbyterian Cemetery.
