Birth: 1780
West Virginia, USA
Death: unknown

For over a century, there was been speculation on who could be the father of George Keefer. A small group of family, directly related to George, state that Frederick Keefer is the father. Mother is unknown at this time. Frederick did marry Barbara Wetzel after the death of George's mother.

The Godfrey Library has a small paragrah, which was extracted from the Boston Transcript Newspaper in April 1926 looking for the Keefer family. It states George was possibly born in Morgan County and lists his birth as 1780.

The Boston Transcript had a genealogy column and people would post their questions, inquires and other data of relatives, in hopes of a response.

Names and dates of George, Polly and their children were submitted to this newspaper. The individual stated "any assistance will be acceptable." This person did not provide name, only initials (A.M.C.H). It's possible that the Hough family was searching for Polly and her family.

Family documents state George married Polly Hough and had these children: Nancy (1809), Samuel (1813), Charles Benjamin (1814), Matilda (1817) and Sarah (1819). This is supported by the historical genealogical bio index.

Nancy married John Williams and lived in Warren, Ohio until her death. Nancy and her daughter (Nancy Porter)are buried alongside each other.

Samuel: Whereabouts is unknown. In 1850, he lived in Sharon, Mercer, Penn but there are no other records. He may have lived in Warren, Ohio or Michigan.

Charles Benjamin settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan, specifically Gaines.

Matilda married Johnathan H. Truesdale in Sharon, Penn and relocated to Allen County Ohio. After the death of her husband, she and her family moved to Calif.

Sarah, who was the youngest, may have sailed on the Alpena in Oct 1880 and was burned to death from the explosion.

There is no information at this time regarding final resting place of George and Polly. It is likley they both died in Mercer, Penn where their children lived and married.
