Age 90, of Deltona, FL died at Americare Assisted Living-Water's Edge after a lengthy illness. He was born in Union Mills, MD to the late Edward C. and Minnie G. (Halter) Keefer.
Mr. Keefer was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and received the rank of Master Sergeant. He was affectionately called "JoJo" by his army buddies. Mr. Keefer served in the European Theater of Operations. He supervised the administrative work of a communication section along with installation of radios and wire communication sets. He also instructed and trained personnel in techniques of field communication and made up rosters for distribution of work to various squads and sections. He hit the beach of Normandy on June 12, 1944 "D + 6". JoJo was the recipient of the American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Service Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the WW II Victory Medal.
Duck lived in Baltimore and moved to Glasgow, VA in 1966. He then moved to Orlando in 1967 where he worked and retired in 1985 from the Orange County School Board as an electric motor repairman. He was a member of South Orlando Seventh day Adventist Church, D.A.V. and the V.F.W., an avid reader, and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing solitaire.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Jean V. Keefer; brothers, Walter, Paul and Vernon and sisters, Grace and Dorothy "Dot".
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Billy Pierce of Deltona, FL and sister, June Bollinger of Westminster, MD.
