Mrs. Norma Jean Keesling of Bermuda Run, N.C., passed away peacefully at her home on August 20, 2012. She was born on August 27, 1931 to Howard and Mattie Shanks of Northfork, W.Va.

She graduated from Northfork High School in 1948 and from Sullins College, Bristol, Va. in 1950. Jean married Donald M. Keesling in 1961. She was a homemaker and an amazing cook. She spent most of her life in Bluefield, W.Va. where she was very active in Westminster Presbyterian Church and The Union Mission. She moved to Bermuda Run, N.C. in 2004 to be closer to her family. She became a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church in Advance, N.C. Her family and friends meant the world to her. She loved to play bridge and entertain. Jean loved her toy poodle, Mollie, who was her constant companion in later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald M. Keesling of Bluefield, W.Va.; her daughter, Sarah Anne Scott and her grandson, Brad Thompson.

Survivors include her five children, Linda Beggs and husband, George of Homosossa, Fla., Karen Gwynne Bible and husband, Michael of Chuckey, Tenn., Jeffrey Lee Mann and wife, Chris of Paris, Tenn., Karen Leigh Powers and husband, Rick, of Advance, N.C., Mark Everett Keesling and wife, Shannon of Cary, N.C.; grandchildren, Hannah Bible of Greenwich, Conn., Jesse Bible and wife, Lindsey of Nashville, Tenn., Tiffany Mann of Akron, Ohio, Kimberly Mann of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Amanda Landen and husband, John of Advance, N.C., Rachel White and fiancé, Daniel Potts of Mocksville, N.C., Madison Keesling, Chase Keesling, Kipperly Keesling, and Cade Keesling of Cary, N.C., Tommy Scott and wife, Angela, Matthew Scott and wife, Staci of Princeton, W.Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Scott of Princeton, W.Va., and Kaleigh Wallace of Akron, Ohio.

A funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel In Advance, N.C. with Dr. Barry Lemons officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 22nd at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Bluefield, W.Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Bethlehem Methodist Church, A Storehouse for Jesus in Mocksville, N.C., or Samaritan's Purse.
