Robert Allen Keating, 79, passed away Jan. 3, 2013, in a local hospice. He was born in 1933, in Camden, Maine. He was a long-time resident of Las Vegas who joined the Clark County Fire Department in 1959 and was instrumental in starting Local 1908 of CCFD. He retired after 30 years of service as an assistant fire chief.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; brother, George Keating of Rockland, Maine; and children, Linda, Rick, Donna, Kari and Tommy; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was an avid golfer and a member of the Sun City Men's Golf Club, and also a member of a Sun City bowling league. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.

Memorial services will be 11:20 a.m., Friday, Feb. 1, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. Reception will follow from 1-3 p.m. at the American Legion, 425 Van Wagenen St., Henderson.
