Elizabeth Aspinwall "Lily "Kearney was born 06 Jun 1840 in Kentucky, the second of seven children born to Alice Ann VanBuren b 12 Aug 1817 in New York, Queens County, New York d 14 Jul 1853 in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio and Horatio Nelson Kearney born 1804 in New Jersey d before 1879 in Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio. Elizabeth and her siblings were born in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio; her siblings were:

On September 06, 1865 in Gallatin County, Kentucky, Elizabeth married Robert Edward "Bud" Craig, the son of Virginia Judith Booking b 15 Apr 1817 in Oak County, Kentucky and Judge Albert Gallatin Craig b 01 Apr 1807 in Riverview, Gallatin County, Kentucky d 22 Oct 1883 in Warsaw, Gallatin County, Kentucky.

Bud's grandparents were Elizabeth Walton "Betsey" Morris b 30 Jun 1782 in Virginia, father prominent Baptist minister, and Rev Benjamin Franklin Craig, Jr. b 21 Sep 1777 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia d 21 Jan 1847 drowned in Ohio River along with his son Silas.

To this union 8 children were born:

Alice "Mamie" Kearney b Mar 1868 d Aug 1941, not married

Virginia Judith b Nov 1869 d 1958, married Richard D Chotard b May 1861 d 1927; they had 3 children, Robert Craig, Elizabeth Barnard, and Richard DeMeyere

Joseph C. b Jul 1870; married Julia A. in 1871; had 1 daughter, Elizabeth Aspinwall "Bessie" b 02 Dec 1872 d 01 Mar 1920. She married Joseph Wiggs (1867-1923) had 3 children, Mary Blackwell, Virginia Cephise and Elizabeth

Robert Edward, Jr. b 1873 d 26 Oct 1878, age 5 years

Albert Gallatin b 08 Jun 1874 d 11 May 1878, age 3 years

Ellen Collins b 30 Jul 1880 d 02 Jun 1968 Springfield, Green County, Missouri. She never married. Took a trip to Cherbourg, France returning to United States December 8, 1928, not known when she left for France.

After Elizabeth's death September 18, 1878, Bud would marry Sarah Lee Leonard on Apr 14, 1898 in Hamburg, Ashley County, Arkansas, no children were born to this union. Sarah Lee Leonard's first husband was Tom White and they had a son and a daughter before his death.

Elizabeth and Bud led a full life raising their 8 children, until Elizabeth died September 18, 1878, at the age of 38 in Ghent, Carroll County, Kentucky.

Their son Robert Edward, Jr. would follow her in death October 25, 1878, he was only 5 years old.
